Nearly a quarter (23%) of newly registered cars are 100% electric, while 9% are plug-in hybrids and 16% are electric hybrids, meaning that, in total, 48% of new engines were at least partly electric in Q1. These numbers are strong, through have fallen slightly from the 2023 (full year) numbers, when these categories combined for 51.5% of registrations.
Diesel is still on the decline, meanwhile, accounting for 14% of registrations, while petrol is holding steady at 31%.
