The number of people testing positive for covid-19 between 21 and 27 March increased by 23% compared to the previous week but hospitals are not overburdened.

According to figures released by the ministry of health 24,603 PCR tests were carried out during the week in question. This marks an increase from the 20,255 tests undertaken the previous week. There were 17,502 active infections as of 27 March, up from 13,945 on 20 March. The average age of those diagnosed with COVID-19 is 35.6 years old.

The week of 21 to 26 March saw 17 deaths related to covid-19 being registered up from 9 the previous week. The average age of the deceased was 78 years old.

Hospitals’ regular care units registered 32 new admissions compared to 36 the previous week and there are currently four patients in intensive care units. The average age of admitted patients is 55 years old.

The family circle remains the most frequent source of contamination (33%) followed by education (22%), work (4.9%) and leisure (4.75%).
