French furniture chain Roche Bobois, which has been present in the country for 51 years, closed the doors of its only showroom (in Bertrange) in February. But it has announced that it will reopen, in the capital, “before the end of the year.”

Back on stage: Roche Bobois arrived in Luxembourg in 1974 with a sales outlet in the city centre, and is now preparing to make a comeback. “The relocation is underway, with a view to opening by the end of 2025,” confirms the agency in charge of communications for the top-of-the-range furnishings specialist.

In February this year, the French brand definitively closed the showroom of more than a thousand square metres that it had occupied since 1989 in Bertrange, opposite La Belle Étoile. In making the departure official, Roche Bobois had nevertheless assured its Luxembourg customers that there was no question of farewell, with its website very quickly announcing “a forthcoming relocation.”

“Visibility on an international scale”

While the address of the new project has not been disclosed, this repositioning is in line with the strategic logic of the brand--which was founded in 1960 and has 1,150 employees--and its expectations in terms of attractive commercial locations: “Generally speaking, the location criteria focus on major business areas, or areas dedicated to home furnishings in France with premium locations, or on city-centre addresses in the world’s major cities with visibility on an international scale,” its communication states.

The Roche Bobois SA Group, which owns the Roche Bobois brand as well as Cuir Center, boasts a network of 339 shops in 56 countries. For 2024, the sales volume of the two brands amounted to €589m (excluding tax) and consolidated sales to €414m.
