Luxembourg’s royal household on Monday morning announced the birth of Crown Prince Guillaume and his wife Crown Princess Stéphanie’s second child. 

Prince François Henri Luis Marie Guillaume was born on 27 March at 10.04 am, weighing 3.575kg and measuring 53cm. The little prince is third in line to Luxembourg’s grand ducal throne, behind father Guillaume and his older brother, Prince Charles, who celebrates his third birthday on 10 May.

“Princess Stéphanie and the baby are doing well,” the royal household said in an official statement.

The birth of the prince, which was announced for April 2023, will not be the only piece of good news for the grand ducal family this year.

Princess Alexandra--the fourth child and only daughter of and , is set to marry her French fiancé  on 22 April in a civil ceremony at Luxembourg City’s town hall. This will be followed by a religious service on 29 April in Bormes-les-Mimosa in southeast France.
