Luxembourg-based beauty treatment booking platform Salonkee has just closed a €6.2m series A funding round.

The round was led by Fortino Capital from Belgium and Dutch venture capital firm Newion. It saw one of Salonkee’s seed round investors, Expon Capital, invest significantly.

Other investors included Verve from Switzerland and some experienced business angels from Germany.

The firm, which launched in Luxembourg in 2017, has facilitated more than five million appointments at over 1,200 hairdressers and beauty salons in Luxembourg and Belgium.

According to a press release, the funding will be used to speed up Salonkee’s European expansion. Its two-year goal is to grow the number of partner salons in Europe to 10,000 and it is expanding its team from 25 to 100 staff to support this expansion strategy.

Salonkee, which was founded by Tom Michels in 2016, won the 2020 Creative Young Entrepreneurs contest. In 2019, it successfully raised €1m from private and institutional investors.
