Often lost or forgotten by recipients, gift cards are set to receive a digital upgrade by fintech Satispay. Users scan the barcode of a loyalty or gift card they’ve received to register it, Satispay said in a press release. From their digital wallet, customers can use it whenever needed.

"With the launch of this new service, Satispay is taking another step towards a complete super app, which allows immediate access to any type of activity related to payment or money management. We wanted to find a solution that would make users' wallets completely virtual, in order to simplify their shopping experience--from loyalty card to payment, all in one app," said Satispay CEO Alberto Dalmasso.

"We have a special relationship with Luxembourg, as we chose this country to open our European headquarters and to register our e-money license," Dalmasso said. "Luxembourg proved to be an excellent choice, as it is an ideal multicultural testing ground for rolling out the Satispay offer. It is the right size for urban marketing and companies are constantly looking for solutions that allow them to target customers.”

Satispay has partnered with more than 350 registered enterprises in Luxembourg, including Paris 8, Ferber, The Manso Group, Concept+Partners, Urban Bar, Bazaar Bar and Restaurant, Bistro Beim Renert, Maestri Della Pasta, Häagen-Dazs, Kaempff-Kohler, and many more.

Around 1.8m customers regularly use Satispay in more than 160,000 shops in Italy, Luxembourg and Germany to pay in shops, send money to friends, pay bills and fines, top up their mobile phone credit or make donations.
