The fintech startup, which has offices in Luxembourg, said that the deal came after fans of the team asked if they could pay for match tickets and refreshment by phone instead of cash, said club vice president Francis Rollinger.

In the future, that means that fans and players will be able to make all purchases on the club’s hometurf using the contactless electronic payment solution.

At the same time, Satispay has landed a similar sponsorship deal with 5-a-side indoor football complex the Loft.

Côme de Courcelles, Marketing Manager at Satispay Luxembourg, said: “On top of the financial support that we will give them to develop their sports activities, they can now also present their public the best payment experience, all while benefiting from the advantages of Satispay. We are very happy with these first two sports sponsorships and we certainly have the intention to continue on this path!”

Launched in Italy in 2015, Satispay has been in the Luxembourg and German market since April 2020. Today it is accepted for purchases in around 350 vendors in Luxembourg.

According to a press statement, Satispay has an annual transaction volume of €400 million in Italy (as of September 2020).
