From Wednesday until Saturday, companies will be able to collect their second free rapid antigen test kit at Luxexpo, with a maximum of 1,440 tests per business handed out.

Companies have already been able to collect their first self-test kit, available since 29 December. They can now receive either their second kit, or the first and the second at the same time, from Wednesday 5 January.

The government and the Chamber of Commerce had announced the distribution of free self-tests to support businesses in the hotel and catering, events and fitness sectors, which have switched to 2G+. This means that their customers must be vaccinated or recovered and, if they have not yet received their booster dose, must also show a negative test result, which can be done on site by rapid antigen test.

Each company concerned will receive a total of two kits. The House of Entrepreneurship of the Chamber of Commerce specifies that the number of boxes of self-tests depends on the number of employees. For example, a company employing only one person will receive eight boxes of 20 self-tests each. A company with more than 16 employees will receive a maximum of 72 boxes (36 on 29 December, another 36 on 5 January), a total of 1,440 self-tests.

8 January deadline

Businesses must have received a letter allowing them to make an appointment to collect their tests at the chosen time, between 5 and 8 January. After this date, it will normally no longer be possible to collect the kit, confirms the Chamber of Commerce.

Companies that have not received their mail can contact the House of Entrepreneurship at [email protected], or by phone at (+352) 42 39 39-700. The distribution is organised in collaboration with the Chamber of Skilled Trades and Crafts, the Horesca federation and the Luxembourg Confederation of Commerce (CLC).

About 3,000 invitations were sent to companies in total, according to Carlo Thelen, director general of the Chamber of Commerce. 27% of companies had made an appointment to collect their first kit by last week. “We see that there are already three times as many companies registered as there were last week at the same time,” he said, imagining that many preferred to collect both at the same time.

If too many tests remain on the hands of the Chamber of Commerce, he’s considering the possibility of continuing to distribute them by appointment at the House of Entrepreneurship, even if this is not the objective.

On the cultural side, the director of Kinepolis Luxembourg, Christophe Eyssartier, said that he was in contact with the ministry in question to provide the sector with tests. In the meantime, the responsibility for getting tested lies with the customer who has not yet received the booster dose.
