Luxembourg satellite operator SES and Microsoft have partnered with UAE technology and investment group e& to host the co-located SES O3b mPOWER and Microsoft ground station at Ras Al Khaimah.

The station, which will be the first of its kind in the region, will facilitate one-hop connectivity to the cloud from remote sites. This will enable companies to optimise their global business operations smoothly and to accelerate their digitalisation plans, states an press release.

High-speed connectivity

The UAE’s first telecommunications company, e&--formerly known as Etisalat Group--will gain improved connectivity from the trio partnership. The collaboration is expected to result in simplifying the company’s network services’ connection via the SES’s second-generation medium earth orbit constellation--O3b mPOWER. The Luxembourg operator’s operation aims to deliver high-speed connectivity services from tens of megabits to multiple gigabits per second to one site. The Microsoft Azure Cloud and SES’s satellite network will contribute to minimising latency delays.
