Silent Breach, a US start-up specialising in cybersecurity based in Luxembourg since 2017, on Tuesday announced the launch of Quantum Armor, a defence shield that should identify weaknesses before hackers even think of exploiting them.

What if thieves weren't always one step ahead of the police? Or, in cybersecurity terms, what if hackers weren't always two centuries ahead of information security officers? After four years of work and some notable feats, such as exposing the US department of defence's security flaws in 2020, start-up Silent Breach is launching its Quantum Armor on Tuesday.

"We've spent years developing a single integrated application to meet the security needs of the modern organisation, and we're extremely grateful to all of our team members, clients, and partners who have helped us get here," said Marc Castejon, CEO of Silent Breach, in a statement.

The company first set up its European office in Luxembourg in 2017 and has been hosted at Technoport since 2019. "What makes Quantum Armor truly unique is that it retains an incredible degree of simplicity and usability, even as it provides the most robust security monitoring capabilities available anywhere on the market."

Simply put, Silent Breach first looks at the attack surface that an entity, business or government, for example, offers to potential hackers. E-mails, open ports, passwords found on forums or on the dark web, vulnerability of HTTPS headers: the start-up's technology scans everything. The result of the analysis gives the company an idea of where it is vulnerable, with the opportunity to try to plug the holes to reduce its attack surface.

The special feature of Quantum Armor is the dynamic nature of the solution, which carries out this control continuously. As soon as a change is detected, the operational team is alerted, unless they themselves are the cause of the change.

The solution, is sold in three modes, software as a service, on-premise or hybrid mode.

“We took a step back and seriously engaged with the security needs and pain points faced by many of our clients," said Andrew Miller, Quantum Armor product manager. "We understood that there was a real need for a light-weight security platform that could provide 360-degrees of live visibility into our client's cybersecurity posture. At the same time, we found that security engineers and business executives were forced to work with two entirely distinct toolkits. Quantum Armor bridges that gap by providing a single turnkey platform that can easily be tailored to each stakeholder's needs and expertise."

The start-up already has a great range of clients, from Carrefour to HSBC, General Electric, Walmart and the Bank of America.
