Concerts in various places with some exhibitions and workshops in parallel: this is the recipe for the next Siren’s Call festival on 24 June.

The Siren’s Call festival, organised on 24 June by the Atelier, has just unveiled its entire programme. This event is different from its usual format because it is more than just a music festival.

First of all, it spread the stages over several locations: Neumünster Abbey, Siggy’s, Garden, Melusina and Gudde Wëllen. “The idea is that people can discover totally different atmospheres in the space of... I'm making this up... five minutes. So, we go from a stage with a large open-air square with a capacity of 3,000 people, to a small theatre right next door. So literally not even 50 metres to walk! Here, we are in a much more intimate context with bleacher-type chairs,” explains Michel Welter, managing partner of the Atelier.

Secondly, because the programme is eclectic and has real added value. But it is also very personal, reveals Welter, which should never be the case for a music programmer. “I always say that we book throughout the year and try not to let our personal tastes play a role. But here, it's the complete opposite! We really only programme what we like, what we have seen in concert and that we liked. So that's it, this is really our little baby that we pamper.”

The headliner of the festival will be French indie pop band Phoenix.

Tele-port, who skilfully blend European tradition, American jazz and oriental influences, will also be on the bill. But also Billy Nomates, The Haunted Youth and Japanese Breakfast, who have already performed at Coachella. Not forgetting Start Feminine Band with their committed songs, Englbrt, Echt! with their explosive performances, Sprints, an Irish band and Sorry.

Finally, various activities are planned. Notably for the youngest with a DJ workshop with Junior Akwety, art exhibitions, a small tasting village with local producers including a bar with organic wines and crémants, musical entertainment by Une journée à Takaledougou, workshops...

The siren song?

There remains the question that everyone asks, but that no one dares to ask: why Siren’s Call? In reference to these mythological creatures who seduce sailors with their melodious song in order to lure them into the waves? The name of the festival is indeed inspired by this myth, but that's not all! According to Welter, there is also a legend about the presence of a mermaid in the Alzette river, where the festival takes place... The organisers wanted to play with these two stories to name the festival.

Tickets are on sale for €62. Free for children under 12.
