The public prosecutor's office is demanding a nine-month suspended prison sentence and a fine for the former president of the CSV, while Félix Eischen and André Martins could each face six-month suspended sentences.

Frank Engel, former president of the CSV, who has since given up his party card, heard the public prosecutor's office demand a nine-month suspended prison sentence and a fine for forgery, fraud and breach of trust. Engel benefited from a remuneration of €40,000 for seven months, from June to December 2020, as a project manager within the CSV-Frëndeskrees association. His job was to ensure the external representation of the association, the recruitment of new members and the preparation of the transformation of the association into a foundation. This contract was contested by members of his party, who had informed .

Six months suspended sentence for Eischen and Martins

The court’s decision could deal another blow to the CSV. Félix Eischen, former secretary general of the party, faces a six-month long suspended prison sentence and a fine, as does André Martins, former treasurer of the Frëndeskrees association. The prosecution is convinced that they helped create a fictitious job for Engel.

Georges Heirendt, former treasurer general of the CSV and Georges Pierret, member of the CSV-Frëndeskrees , face the prospect of fine, as do Stéphanie Weydert and Elisabeth Margue, who hold prominent positions in the party hierarchy. If they are found guilty of the charges against them, then their political futures will inevitably be questioned.
