The 10x6 Up your skills event on 28 June discussed the power of lifelong learning, upskilling and re-skilling, not just to make Luxembourg an attractive place to work but also to empower employees and allow them to achieve their career goals.

Guests at the event heard inspiring stories, such as that of Nicolas Demarest, who went from handyman at Lombard International Assurance to being director of business development, or Liliana Grigor who re-trained as a full stack developer after leaving behind her job as a laboratory technician in Portugal.

Labour minister Georges Engel, who joined by video message, and Pierre Hobscheit of the labour ministry discussed government strategies to tackle the skills gap, which was outlined by Inès Baer from employment office Adem that is currently conducting an analysis of the skills wanted in the market.

Lucile Barberet of Nyoko discussed entreneurial skills while Jean-Pierre Faber of the CSSF outlined skills-training in a growing organisation and Wilfrid Lagrange spoke about the importance of soft skills. Stanislas Dutreil of Badenoch + Clark highlighted the importance of employee empowerment, while Florian Feltes showed how AI solutions can help free up HR from repetitive administrative tasks to spend more time on employee experience.
