On Friday 25 February, the rail connection between Metz and Luxembourg as supposed to be disrupted due to a strike by employees of French railway company SNCF with several express TER trains already cancelled.

A number of French trade unions called for a strike resulting in a message by the French state-owned railway company regarding major disruption to its services. 

In total, nine trains between Metz and Luxembourg should have been cancelled as well as two trains between Metz and Thionville and two other between Thionville and Luxembourg, . The railway company advises people to postpone travel as much as possible.

The disruptions were expected to affect cross-border workers directly, as the 6.46am and 7.46am trains from Metz to Luxembourg was to be cancelled, as was the 7.36am train from Thionville.

At the end of the day, from Luxembourg to Metz, the 3.16 pm, 4.46 pm, 4.58 pm, 6.16 pm, 8.09 pm and 9.39 pm trains were to be cancelled. 

However , the strike has been lifted thanks to negotiations, announced the TER Nancy-Metz-Luxembourg Twitter account.
