Space data provider Spire Global, which has its European headquarters in Luxembourg, has announced the appointment of a new chief financial officer. Alison Engel will take up her post on 1 April.

Alison Engel will succeed Thomas Krywe, interim CFO from 1 April 2025 as Spire Global's CFO. The former director of LeaseAccelerator has also worked as CFO at US media company Gannett and DallasNews Corporation.

"Spire has built a proven infrastructure in a dynamic industry with immense opportunities for innovation and growth," said Engel. "I look forward to working with Theresa and the management team to drive the business forward, seize these opportunities and ultimately improve life on Earth through data from space," she responded.

She will be based at the company's headquarters in Vienna, USA. Alison has a proven track record of guiding businesses through complex challenges in fast-moving industries. Her long-standing experience as CFO of listed companies brings valuable stability in financial control, strategy and team leadership," said Theresa Condor, CEO of Spire.

In mid-November, Spire that it was selling its shipping business to Belgium's Kpler. A $241m transaction that should enable the company to pay off its debts and invest in growth opportunities.
