Prime minister Xavier Bettel (DP) is set to give his state of the nation speech on 12 October. Delano’s Cordula Schnuer and Ara City Radio’s Sam Steen on Monday morning looked ahead at some of the topics the premier might discuss.

Speaking during Ara City Radio’s new Top of the Week feature with Delano, Cordula and Sam looked at the political agenda--including security around the train station, tax reform, housing and the environment--and how these could shape Bettel’s speech. With elections coming up in 2023, they also looked at the general context of the upcoming address.

To kick off the week, Cordula and Sam also talked about some upcoming events, including the Philharmonie’s Atlântico festival, the Cineast festival’s animated short movie marathon, and an online conference on human rights in the fashion industry.

Finally, Delano’s TV tip of the week is Netflix documentary series Vendetta: Truth, Lies and the Mafia, which follows independent journalist Pino Maniaci and judge Silvana Saguto in their fight against the Sicilian mafia, but allegations of corruption fly in all directions and both find themselves in court.

Tune in again next week Monday around 8.30am on Ara City Radio or listen to the podcast on Delano.
