With a little delay but a lot of anticipation, Thai restaurant chain Pitaya will open its doors in the heart of the capital on 20 October, further diversifying the food on offer in the area.

. After France, Belgium and the Netherlands, the Pitaya restaurant chain will enter the Luxembourg market. Initially scheduled to open in the spring, it will now open on Thursday 20 October at Place d'Armes, just a few steps away from high-profile establishments such as Grand Café by Redbeef, Bella Ciao and Café de Paris, in Luxembourg’s city centre.

Here, the vibe is clearly more street food oriented, with a décor that aims to transport visitors to the streets of Bangkok. This theme and strategy seem to be working for the brand, since Pitaya--created in Bordeaux, France--in 2010--can boast of more than 120 locations in France and the Benelux countries. The management explains that "our Thai dishes are prepared to order, in full view of the customers, with fresh and quality ingredients in each restaurant. We want to offer a combination of healthy, tasty food at affordable prices, for a successful meal on the go.”

On the Pitaya menu: chicken satay or beef lemon skewers, "nua kao" - a surf & turf mix of minced beef, shrimp, white Thai rice, wok-fried bean sprouts and carrots, fried onions and Thai chives that sounds tempting--green, red and yellow curries (but without peas...) as well as the inevitable pad thai, a monument of Asian street food. Many vegetarian options, French-made ice creams and sorbets, kombucha and a dragon fruit smoothie complete the trendy menu at Pitaya.

Will it be as tasty as it is promising? The verdict will be out on 20 October!
