The international law firm Simmons & Simmons has announced the appointment of as the new country head of its Luxembourg office, effective 1 May 2025. Somma succeeds , who will now focus on his legal practice within the banking, finance and capital markets sector, alongside his role as national practice group head of the financial markets team in Luxembourg.

Somma brings nearly two decades of experience advising international and domestic clients on corporate law and M&A matters, notes the firm. Prior to his appointment as country head, he led the firm’s Luxembourg corporate and M&A practice, a role he will continue to hold alongside his new responsibilities as country head of the Luxembourg office and elected board member of the firm. He joined Simmons & Simmons in 2018 and specialises in real estate, infrastructure and private equity deals, but has clients from various sectors such as the automotive, medical and pharmaceutical, insurance and re-insurance industries. Somma previously held roles at Hogan Lovells, NautaDutilh and Wildgen.

Simmons & Simmons opened its Luxembourg office in 2015. It counts seven partners and roughly 50 employees in total. The team advises clients on banking and finance, capital markets, corporate and M&A, funds and investment management, tax and associated regulatory matters.
