HSBC Private Bank Luxembourg has announced the recruitment of Marnix Rosendaal as desk head for the Netherlands and Patrick Rutgers and Ruud van Haperen as senior relationship managers.

The appointments of Marnix Rosendaal, Patrick Rutgers and Ruud van Haperen, announced by HSBC Private Bank Luxembourg on 24 September 2024, have been effective since 1 September. The bank noted in a press release that their recruitment is part of HSBC Continental Europe’s strategy to build a wholesale bank in continental Europe, complemented by a targeted wealth and private banking offering.

“This investment in key expertise and talent leverages our strong local corporate presence and will help drive our selective expansion in Europe, bringing to our clients new international connectivity opportunities,” commented François Essertel, market head Europe international and chairman of HSBC Private Bank (Luxembourg) S.A. The new team will be based in the grand duchy and cover entrepreneurs and ultra-high-net- worth clients based out of the Netherlands and Belgium.

Rosendaal, who is now desk head for the Netherlands, previously served as head of wealth management for the Netherlands at Deutsche Bank, as director, head AWM south east Netherlands at Deutsche Bank Asset & Wealth Management, and as managing director at the independent wealth manager Van Lanschot.

Rutgers, recently appointed as senior relationship manager, joins HSBC from Deutsche Bank in the Netherlands, where he held the role of senior client advisor wealth management. Before, he held positions at the Dutch bank ABN AMRO.

van Haperen, who has also joined HSBC as senior relationship manager, also previously worked at Deutsche Bank in Amsterdam. He held the roles of senior relationship manager wealth management and head of cash management sales NL.

Headquartered in Luxembourg, HSBC Private Bank (Luxembourg) S.A. is a subsidiary of HSBC Continental Europe and is dedicated to private banking clients in Europe. According to its latest annual accounts filed with the Luxembourg business registry, the bank reported a loss of €18m for the financial year 2023 and a loss of €7.4m for the financial year 2022.
