With 3,241 officers on 1 January 2025, including more than 2,500 active police officers in the field, the grand ducal police force is continuing to beef itself up. Two new police stations--in Ettelbruck and Luxembourg-Gare--will soon switch to a 24-hour service.

Interior minister  (CSV) on 24 March 2025 responded to a parliamentary question submitted by MP (Piraten) concerning the staffing and organisation of grand ducal police stations.

A total of 3,241 officers held posts at the beginning of January, including 2,505 in uniform in the field and 736 in civilian duties. Since last November, 54 additional staff members--including specialists in cybercrime and finance--have joined the ranks of the criminal investigation department.

With regard to the availability of police stations, 13 of them already provide a 24/7 service. From May or June 2025, two additional police stations--at Gare-Hollerech (Luxembourg City) and Ettelbruck--will reinforce this coverage.

Asked about the risks of understaffing, Gloden assured that each police station can function and fulfil its missions, even if some have to deal with more cases because of their area or population density. The minister acknowledged that this distribution has an impact on the workload of police officers and stresses the need to continue recruiting and training staff to relieve the teams.

Finally, he stated that in each region, at least four police officers are always available at all hours, in addition to mobile and specialist units. Gloden also highlighted the success of the , which has resulted in 1,650 additional patrols in six months. An extension of this scheme is planned shortly, with a bill already approved by the cabinet.
