Last week, the European Union voted in a temporary protection directive, allowing Ukrainians fleeing the conflict to bypass the usual administrative procedures in place. Through this, refugees will be granted a residence permit, as well as access to education and the labour market.
The grand duchy, which is applying the directive, will thus not request a work permit from Ukrainian residents, effectively giving them direct access to the national job market. “They can be hired directly under a common law employment contract (CDI/CDD/interim), the provisions of the Labour Code are fully applicable,” says
Employers wishing to offer a position to refugees will have to opt for the public diffusion of their job offers on the . This will allow job seekers who are not enrolled in the national agency to view the postings.
Whether these conditions also apply to non-Ukrainians fleeing the country remains uncertain. Delano has reached out to Adem for more information.
