Meluxina is one of the world’s top 30 High Performance computers. SIP / Julien Warnand

Luxembourg’s university and Meluxina supercomputer operator LuxProvide will collaborate on research and innovation projects after signing a framework agreement on 14 April.

Through this agreement, both partners will be able to access to their respective training and education activities, access equipment, physical and digital infrastructures, technical knowhow and expertise. As the high-performance computer Meluxina processes data and complex calculations at high speed, it will support the partners in strengthening research and innovation in Luxembourg. , Meluxina has a capacity of 10 petaflops and ranks among the top 30 computers in the world in terms of computing powers.

This agreement not only aligns with the government’s aim to strengthen digitalisation but also will aid the university and HPC operator in their collaboration on joint research and innovation projects they intend to submit to national and European funding agencies.

In a press statement of the university, Pascal Bouvry, in charge of the University High Performance Computing said: “With the MeluXina framework agreement, the University will stimulate a positive societal impact and drive innovation through research, expertise, and education.” LuxProvide CEO Roger Lampach added that “The partnership with the University will consolidate the opportunity to on-board new generations of users through the elaboration of joint feasibility studies and proof-of-concepts,” as the company aims “at democratising access to HPC making companies.”

The framework agreement runs until 2025 included, after which it can be renewed.
