Vodafone is consolidating its procurement and connectivity activities in Luxembourg under a new entity, Vodafone Procure and Connect, in order to simplify its offering and strengthen its operational efficiency on a global scale.

British telecoms giant Vodafone is evolving its organisation by unifying two of its main entities: Vodafone Procurement Company and Vodafone Voice and Roaming Services. The new structure is called Vodafone Procurement and Connect and aims to simplify and improve the services offered to the group’s customers.

As a reminder, Vodafone Procurement Company is responsible for managing purchasing and supplier relations for the entire Vodafone group. Until now, it has managed €19bn in annual expenditure, with links to 8,000 suppliers worldwide. It served the group’s subsidiaries, partner markets, joint ventures and third-party companies.

Vodafone Voice and Roaming Services is one of the world’s leading providers of services enabling mobile customers to move from one network to another internationally, working with more than 700 partner operators. The entity processes €1.5bn in commercial transactions and manages 25bn minutes of communication every year.

With this strategic transformation, Luxembourg-based Vodafone Procure and Connect is now positioned as a single point of contact for procurement, logistics, voice and roaming services. “By combining the strengths of two divisions, we are simplifying our offering while strengthening our capacity for innovation. This new scale enables us to help our customers control costs and grow their businesses in an ever-changing environment,” commented Ninian Wilson, Vodafone Group supply chain director and CEO of the new Vodafone Procure and Connect.

An expanded portfolio of services

The new brand brings together a range of services:

Outsourced procurement services: digital tools and expertise will help ensure competitive costs, enhanced efficiency and data-informed decisions.

Design-to-cost programme: designed for companies purchasing hardware, software or services, the programme is meant to optimise costs while controlling risks and integrating sustainability issues.

Sponsored roaming solutions: these solutions will give immediate access to Vodafone’s global footprint, enabling mobile operators to provide full coverage to their customers.

Roaming management: this is meant to optimise customers’ roaming platforms and services, with a positive impact on revenues and costs.

International voice and packet exchange services: these will have advanced anti-fraud features.

Maritime connectivity solutions: Coastal 4G/5G networks and hybrid systems for ships will be combined.
