This weekend, we bid farewell to summer with Long Live The Summer at Luxexpo, a festive event combining DJ sets, creative workshops and conviviality. For cycling fans, the Škoda Tour de Luxembourg promises some spectacular finishes. In Schaffmillen, the Quetschefest celebrates the plum with music and festivities. Finally, Come Together at the Schluechthaus offers a programme of sporting and cultural activities, perfect for all the family.

Thursday 19 September

Škoda Tour Luxembourg, 2nd stage. The Škoda Tour Luxembourg is stopping off in Schifflange. The finish of this second stage is scheduled between 4.19pm and 5.04pm. The roads around the town will be partially closed and disruption to public transport is expected. It’s the perfect opportunity to cheer on the riders and enjoy some intense sporting action. World champion Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck) is taking part in the Škoda Tour de Luxembourg and won the first stage ahead of Christophe Laporte and Andreas Lorentz Kron.

Luxembourg Times BusinessRun. The BusinessRun is back to bring company teams together on the Kirchberg. This 5km team race is ideal for strengthening links between colleagues while supporting a good cause. At the end of the run, participants can meet up at the AfterRun-Party with a live DJ at the Coque. €2 per participant will be donated to local charities.

Friday 20 September

Long Live The Summer. Long Live The Summer invites you to celebrate the end of summer at this colourful event. On the programme: lifestyle stands, DJ sets, interactive workshops and masterclasses, all in a festive atmosphere. Explore the creations of local designers and well-known brands while enjoying delicious food and drink. The event also has a strong focus on sustainability and eco-friendly practices.

Mamer Market. To mark the start of autumn, Mamer Market is making a comeback. Enjoy local produce, gourmet stalls and live music in a friendly atmosphere. It’s a great opportunity to discover fresh produce and support local producers, while having a great time with friends and family.

Škoda Tour Luxembourg. The third stage of the Škoda Tour Luxembourg runs from Rosport to Diekirch over a distance of 201.3km. This difficult route--with several climbs--will put climbers in the spotlight. The start is scheduled for 12.15pm, with the finish estimated between 4.39pm and 5.34pm. Come and cheer on the runners at the finish and enjoy a captivating sporting spectacle.

Galerie Spiren reopens. Galerie Spiren in Strassen is reopening with an exhibition entitled “Visions,” featuring works by the Sixthfloor artists’ collective. The opening will be an opportunity to meet the artists and discover their work on contemporary themes. A great evening of art and culture for all Luxembourg art lovers.

Concert: Seong-Jin Cho and the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra. Let yourself be carried away by the magic of music at this exceptional concert by the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg. Conducted by Gustavo Gimeno, the orchestra will perform works by Ravel, Prokofiev and Shostakovich. The pianist Seong-Jin Cho will join the ensemble for a memorable performance of Shostakovich’s concerto for piano and trumpet.

Saturday 21 September

Škoda Tour Luxembourg, 4th stage. The individual time trial in Differdange is a key stage of the Škoda Tour Luxembourg. Over a course of 15.5 km, each rider will have to give his all to gain precious seconds. The start is scheduled for 13:15, with finishes expected between 13:34 and 16:47. Come and support the cyclists in this solitary but decisive effort.

18th edition of Portes Ouvertes Luxembourg. More than 30 Luxembourg companies are opening their doors to the public to showcase their skills and expertise. It’s an immersive experience of Luxembourg's professional world, where visitors can talk to experts, discover innovations and even watch live demonstrations. .

Quetschefest. Quetschefest, a traditional festival dedicated to plums, is back with a host of concerts and entertainment. From 4pm, the Concordia Wellen brass band will open the evening, followed by a concert by cover band Fanatic Five. The evening will end in style with a DJ set to get festival-goers dancing. A great way to celebrate autumn while enjoying local music and specialities.

Luxembourg Defence Open Air Days. At the Luxembourg Defence Open Air Days, discover an impressive fleet of aircraft, including the Airbus A400M and the Belgian F-16. Visitors can talk to experts about the various aircraft and find out about careers in military aviation.

Sunday 22 September

Oekofest 2024. Oekofest returns to the heart of the Pfaffenthal district, with a packed programme of events for all the family: music, workshops to raise awareness of ecology, a discovery rally, a cake competition and much more. Come and enjoy the warm atmosphere of this eco-responsible festival while discovering the local biodiversity.

Kick Cancer into Touch competition. Take part in the 23rd Touch Rugby tournament in support of the fight against cancer. This charity tournament promotes sport for all, with mixed teams at different levels. As well as the tournament, enjoy the food and drink served throughout the day, all in a friendly atmosphere.

Škoda Tour Luxembourg, 5th stage. The final stage of the Škoda Tour Luxembourg will take riders from Mersch to Limpertsberg, a distance of 176.9 km. The start is at 11:45 and the finish is scheduled between 15:58 and 16:42 on the Avenue Victor Hugo. The end of this race promises a spectacular finale.

Come Together at Schluechthaus. The former abbey of Hollerich will be hosting the second edition of “Come Together,” an initiative designed to promote civic involvement in Luxembourg. Sports clubs, cultural and social associations will be on hand to share their activities with the public. It’s a day packed with entertainment, ideal for discovering new passions and getting involved in community life.

Xanti Schawinsky: Play, Life, Illusion--a Retrospective + Schawinsky Reloaded by Monster Chetwynd. This  outside Switzerland. Inspired by the spirit of the Bauhaus and Black Mountain College, Schawinsky explored a variety of artistic fields, including stage direction, set design, photography and painting. The exhibition also includes a large-scale installation by Monster Chetwynd, created in response to Schawinsky’s work.

In the Moselle region

European Heritage Days at the Château de Preisch. To mark European Heritage Days, the Château de Preisch is opening its doors for a weekend of discoveries on the theme of networks and connections. The programme includes a tour of the estate and outdoor activities for all the family. There’s also a tearoom where you can enjoy cakes and drinks. It’s a great opportunity to rediscover this historic site close to the Luxembourg border.

In Arlon

Lux fashion week. The town of Arlon is organising Lux Fashion Week, one of the key events of the autumn. This 10th anniversary edition will showcase 14 talented designers, including Marie Schweisthal, Damien Ducobu and Raquel Lopes, who will present their collections at the fashion show in Arlon’s multi-purpose hall. The fashion weekend will conclude with a fashion show by local traders, a great way to celebrate the region’s fashion and creativity. On Sunday, the designers will be exhibiting their collections at the Palais, accompanied by a market of local artisans to discover the skills and know-how of the province of Luxembourg.

In Hondelange

Festival weekend in Hondelange. The village of Hondelange invites you to its annual festival, a not-to-be-missed event for young and old alike. On Friday, the festival kicks off with a back-to-school ball, followed by a special Peckets evening. On Saturday, an Oberbayern evening featuring chamber musicians will be followed by a big 80s and 90s ball. Finally, Sunday is dedicated to families, with wooden games, children's entertainment and snacks. A festive and convivial weekend for the whole community.
