The CFL will be taking advantage of the Carnival holidays to carry out maintenance work on two lines: the one from Luxembourg to Arlon via Kleinbettingen; and the one from Esch to Rodange. The works run until 23 February (inclusive). A replacement bus service will be provided.

During the Carnival holidays, the CFL will be interrupting traffic on the Luxembourg-Kleinbettingen-Arlon and Luxembourg-Esch-Rodange lines. On the first line, traffic will be interrupted from Saturday 15 February to allow the rail operator to carry out maintenance on various elements along the train line, in particular the maintenance of rainwater drainage systems. CFL also states that the Roads and Bridges Administration will take advantage of this work period to repair a bridge at Capellen.

On the line linking Luxembourg to Rodange via Esch, trains will be cancelled between Esch and Rodange in both directions as of Monday 17 February, but will continue to run between Luxembourg and Esch. The work will be carried out on the section between Esch and Pétange and will involve demolishing the deck of the bridge over the railway tracks near Oberkorn.

The drainage systems will also be cleaned and inspected, and the gutters and access tracks for CFL personnel renewed. “In order to continue to reconcile the safety requirements of rail transport with the evolution of nature, clearing work will be carried out to continue to ensure the safety of rail operations,” says the CFL.

Replacement buses

A replacement bus service will be provided on both lines for the duration of the works. There will be direct non-stop connections between Luxembourg and Arlon with the L52 bus. Other replacement buses (line L50) will serve all stops on the Luxembourg-Kleinbettingen-Arlon line.

Replacement buses (L60) will also be put in place to serve towns and stations usually served by Esch/Rodange trains.
