Maples and Calder (Luxembourg), the Maples Group’s law firm in Luxembourg, has announced the appointment of Yann Hilpert as a partner and co-head of its finance practice.

Yann Hilpert, who focuses on leveraged finance, secured lending transactions, fund finance, debt capital market, securitisation and asset finance, will work together with co-head Arnaud Arrecgros to expand the firm’s Luxembourg finance practice. He will advise private equity houses, financial institutions, alternative investment funds, multinational companies and private clients, noted a press release from the law firm.

“Yann has established an outstanding reputation in the market and we are delighted to welcome him to our growing Luxembourg practice and are confident that his considerable experience will complement our Luxembourg and global finance practice,” commented Johan Terblanche, Luxembourg managing partner in the communiqué. “Luxembourg continues to be an attractive and flexible jurisdiction for securitisation vehicles and we continue to see high volumes of fund finance transactions in particular.”

Before joining Maples and Calder, Hilpert spent three years in AKD’s Luxembourg office as banking and finance partner, two years at DCL Avocats, six months as senior vice-president at Contour Global and 15 years at Dentons in Luxembourg. He is also a lecturer at the faculty of law of Nancy at the University of Lorraine, where he lectures on Luxembourg corporate and finance law.

“Having worked in the industry for many years, I have long admired the Maples Group and I am incredibly excited to join this highly ambitious international organisation,” said Hilpert in the press release. “I look forward to working with the team on the ground in Luxembourg and across the group’s global network.”

The Maples Group has 16 offices worldwide, including in Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Ireland, Jersey and London, and roughly 3,000 employees. Its law firm in the grand duchy--Maples and Calder (Luxembourg)--provides legal advice in the corporate, finance, tax and funds and investment management areas.
