Crown prince Guillaume and princess Stéphanie celebrate 10th anniversary

Ten years, one child and second one on the way--on 19 October 2022, Crown Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg and Crown Princess Stéphanie are celebrating their tin anniversary. Delano photographer Guy Wolff shares snippets of their wedding day.

Meeting at a mutual friend’s event, the couple announced their engagement in April 2012. A law granting the future crown princess the Luxembourg nationality--without having to follow the normal protocol for applicants--had attracted some criticism.

The weeks ahead of the wedding had also been met with difficulties as Countess Alix de Lannoy--Stéphanie’s mother--passed away . Ultimately, the couple chose not to postpone the wedding, holding their civil ceremony on 19 October and exchanging vows at their religious wedding ceremony on 20 October 2012 in front of around 1,400 guests.

The crown prince and princess--aged 40 and 38 respectively--on 10 May 2020 welcomed their first child, Prince Charles. At the end of September 2022, the couple announced that they are due a second child in April 2023. The baby due in April 2023 will be the sixth grandchild for Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa.
