Wynton Marsalis brings the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra to the Phil for what promises to be an exhilarating evening.
Jazz fans are in for a treat at the Philharmonie on Valentine’s Day as they get to fall in love with some of the best musicians around. The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, led by Wynton Marsalis (photo Rob Waymen Photography), is made up of 15 of the finest soloists, ensemble players, and arrangers in jazz music today.
Though they all have brilliant solo talent, the musicians truly play as an ensemble. Ottawa Citizen said that the striking thing about the group was that “…as striking as the individual achievements were, they were subordinate to the orchestra’s greater, nobler cause of waving the flag for jazz.”
