The youth section of New World Theatre Club is performing Tolkien classic “The Hobbit” in Luxembourg.
The children’s fantasy novel, which was published in 1937, was so successful it gave rise to the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, which was recently made into a series of films.
Set in a time between the “dawn of Faerie” and “dominion of men”, “The Hobbit” follows hobbit Bilbo Baggins on his question to win a share of the treasure guarded by Smaug the dragon.
This performance is directed by Natalia Sanchez and Julie Fraser and features 29 participants aged from 10 to 18.
“Most importantly, we wanted to work with a script that fired up the imagination: this has not disappointed! Not only have the youth group been busy finding ways to tell this story, the crew are as inspired by this adventure and it is just a joy to work with,” Fraser told Delano, adding: “Whether you like action and danger, or you're more of a Shire person like our Hobbit, there is something for everybody to love. I believe that the way in which the actors and crew have worked together makes for a very exciting production.”
In addition to four evening performances from 25-28 March there will be two matinées at 2:30pm on 25 and 26 March.
