Dutch violinist Simone Lamsma replaces Janine Jansen, who has been struck down with illness, at a concert with the OPL on Tuesday evening.
Soloist Simone Lamsma (photo Otto van den Toorn) takes centre stage with the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg at the Philharmonie to perform Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto. The piece has been called “a moving declaration of love for its secret dedicatee, the Russian violinist Iosif Kotek”.
The orchestra, conducted by Gustavo Gimeno, will also perform Brahms’ First Symphony and, starting the programme, Schubert’s 1820 overture to Georg Ernst von Hofmann’s traditional Viennese magical play Die Zauberharfe.
Last tickets can be purchased directly from the box office in the evening. The concert will be recorded by Radio 100,7 for transmission in July next year.
