European Microfinance Week 2020 is a virtual event this year – and perhaps more important than ever.
Usually held in the sumptuous spaces of Neimënster, European Microfinance Week attracts hundreds of professionals from the field to Luxembourg every year.
The pandemic means that this year’s 3-day conference is a virtual event. Nevertheless, more than 40 sessions will be organised across several thematic streams--from the impact of Covid-19 to climate change resilience, from client protection to digitalisation and encouraging effective and inclusive savings. Other front-line topics include housing microfinance, WASH, remittances, refugees and agri-finance.
A line-up of top experts--practitioners, academics, investors, raters and others--will lead these sessions and the extensive Q&A and audience engagement activities as well.
Also included in the framework of EMW is the ceremony to announce the winner of the €100,000 European Microfinance Award 2020 ‘Encouraging Effective & Inclusive Savings’, this year held online on November 19th.
