The MNHA is hosting an open doors day to celebrate the Chinese new year.
The National history and art museum brings in the year of the pig with a range of thematic tours of its current temporary exhibition “The origins of Chinese civilisation” as well as workshops and traditional music.
An English guided tour takes place at 4:30pm and will highlight the 12 animals, or the art of counting time, in relation to the Chinese calendar. Workshops in Chinese origami, calligraphy and lanterns start at 1pm in multiple languages. A two-hour workshop is also available for adults on I-Ching or the prophetic secrets of the most ancient Chinese text. The adult workshop begins at 3pm and takes place only in French.
Traditional music by Yaping Wang on the zither and Mi Zhou on violin will run intermittently starting at 2:20pm for approximately two hours.
All activities are free of charge, as is the museum entrance for the day of the event.
