“Strange Occurrences” is the theme for this week’s LuxFilmFest “home edition” screenings.
The latest batch of films that the Luxembourg City International Film Festival’s artistic committee has selected for your delectation via online platform VOD.lu feature weird characters and odd events.
They include Govinda van Maele’s surreal rural noir “Gutland”, which won the Luxemburg Film Praïs in 2018.
There is also Harmony Korine’s frenetic drug-addled coming of age drama “Spring Breakers” starring James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez.
And the stunning directorial debut by Julia Ducournau, “Raw” (Grave), about a vegetarian first-year student played by Garance Marillier (photo) who joins her older sister (Ella Rumpf) a strangely decrepit veterinary college and suddenly develops a taste for meat…of all kinds.
Next week’s programme, “Hollywood arthouse”, starts on 5 June and includes Ben Wheatley’s “High Rise” and Luca Guadagnino “A Bigger Spash” available for free over the weekend.
