The National Theatre in London continues its broadcast of classic performances from past seasons with “The Deep Blue Sea”
Director Carrie Cracknell’s 2016 version of Terence Rattigan’s 1952 masterpiece "The Deep Blue Sea" stars Helen McCrory (Polly Gray from “Peaky Blinders”) as Hester Collyer, “one of contemporary drama's greatest female roles”, according to the National Theatre.

At the start of the play, the unfortunate Hester is found in the aftermath of a failed suicide attempt. Rattigan’s drama unravels the story of her tempestuous affair, and the breakdown of her marriage in what is essentially a portrait of need, loneliness and long-repressed passion.
