The second of three screenings by the Confucius Institute at the University of Luxembourg takes place this Friday.
As part of a Chinese cinema cycle, the Confucius Institute has been hosting intermittent screenings at the Cercle Cité. Next up is Tibetan film director Sonthar Gyal’s “Ala Changso” (photo), about a woman who conceals her illness and the secret between her and her ex-husband and decides to go on a pilgrimage to Lhasa. Hollywood Reporter critic Deborah Young said the film “conveys human feelings that ring true” and praise Gyal’s “sensitive use of Tibet’s great scenic beauty”.
The final film in the cycle, on 13 December, is documentary “Four Springs”, which portrays the daily life of a family in the remote town of Dushan in the Guizhou province.
The screenings are free of charge, start at 5:30pm, and all films are subtitled in English.
