Be the first to get a copy of the new book version of the acclaimed website iamnotarefugee.lu, and meet the people it features at this special event.
I am not a refugee was set up by Frédérique Buck to share the intimate stories of people in Luxembourg who have been displaced by conflict.
The website, which was a collaboration with Maison Moderne with funding from Œuvre, was founded in 2016 to rehumanise discussions about refugees, fight prejudice and help connect refugees and locals.
“This project aims to promote awareness and understanding of refugees by showing them in a different, a personal light. We think people power is key to tackle many social and environmental issues,” Buck wrote on the site.
Iamnotarefugee.lu was shortlisted for the Amnesty Luxembourg Human Rights Prize in 2016.
Attendees at this event will find out why as they have a chance to see all of the profiles in print and meet the people behind the real-life stories.
Also present at the signing will be foreign affairs minister Jean Asselborn, who wrote the book’s preface. Funds from the book’s sale will go to NGO Catch A Smile asbl.
