Members of the public are invited to join this commemorative tour of the country to remember the two liberations of Luxembourg.
The Keystone in the Way tour will set out from Ettelbruck at 8am and take in the towns and villages of Diekirch, Consthum, Hosingen, Weiswampach, Wiltz, and Clervaux. The tour marks the seventy-fifth anniversary of the 1944-1945 Battle of the Bulge, in which German troops who had been pushed out of Luxembourg launched a counter attack, catching the allies off-guard.
The Keystone in the Way tour was created by a group of historians and museum representatives in 2018 to erect plaques, memorials and information panels to help improve knowledge and understanding of what happened at this time. It will also show the role played by the twenty-eighth US Infantry Division, for whom the red keystone was their symbol and badge. The tour includes various ceremonies and unveilings. All are public.
