HR: Job postings in the Grand Duchy rose during the first quarter, including sharp gains in the number of accounting & finance and IT positions, according to a recruitment firm report.
The number of “help wanted” adverts rose by double digits during the first three months of the year, driven by increased demand for financial and technology staff, a recruitment consultancy has reported.
Overall job postings in the Grand Duchy were up by 12% between the fourth quarter of 2014 and the first quarter of 2015, according to the Robert Walters European Job Index, published on Friday.
“Both directly and indirectly, financial services fuels the jobs market in Luxembourg, particularly in IT and compliance where the changing face of the industry is driving demand for specific skills,” Bastiaan Fontein of Robert Walters Luxembourg said in a statement.
The number of adverts increased the most for positions in accounting and finance (21%), IT (17%), compliance (13%) and banking and financial services (11%). Legal job postings were up by 5%.
Compared to the January-March period one year ago, the number of IT positions rose by 16% and compliance positions by 13%, while the number of banking and finance jobs decreased by 7%.
Fontein stated: “The influence of the improving global economy is also boosting the jobs market and we hope to see the positive trends in Q1 continue into the remainder of the year.”
