This year’s RBC Race for the Kids raised more than €85,000 for Kannerhaus Jean Therapy Centre Luxembourg Red Cross

Former professional cyclist Fränk Schleck and adventurer motivational speaker Rob Lilwall were among the 1,300 participants in the fourth RBC Race for the Kids in Kirchberg on Sunday. Featuring a new 10km route as well as the traditional 5km fun run and family entertainment, the event raised more than €85,000 for Red Cross’s Kannerhaus Jean Therapy Centre.

As well as RBC, the event receives support from CSL Club d’Athlétisme Luxembourg, Fonds Kirchberg and the City of Luxembourg. But it is the financial help provided by RBC that has allowed the new Kannerhaus Jean Center and boarding facilities to open in September. “At RBC, we all take great pride in helping to make a difference to the lives of the children and families supported by the Luxembourg Red Cross and Kannerhaus Jean” said Yves Lahaye, General Manager RBC Investor & Treasury Services Luxembourg.

Funds raised at this year’s event will go towards the upkeep of the animals, “which is one of the main innovative therapies used, and to help the centre pursue their exceptional work with children and their families,” said Luc Scheer, member of the Red Cross management board and Rita Krombach, vice president of the Luxembourg Red Cross.

Since its launch in New York in 2009, the RBC Race for the Kids series has raised over €26 million for children’s charities around the world.
