The chief investment officer and partner for new Paperjam Club member European Capital Partners, Léon Kirch, talks about his firm and why it joined the Club.
Could you please, in a few words, describe for us your company’s activity ?
European Capital Partners is a Luxembourg based investment boutique with around €500 million in assets under management, specialised in managing listed and non-listed assets. It has been founded by Luxembourg entrepreneurs and is majority owned by the investment team.
In the listed space, ECP applies a value-oriented investment style while seeking public markets from a private equity perspective. We adopt an original Investment philosophy based on the concept known as “entrepreneurial value investing”.
Our portfolios consist of undervalued, quality companies that offer strong cash flow generation but trade at a significant discount compared to our estimated fair values. We believe that in the long-run financial markets will recognise the earnings power value of the companies and we value the importance of patience in watching existing investments grow.
You have just joined the Paperjam Club. What convinced you to join?
We thought it could be a great opportunity to grow our network through the different means Paperjam Club is offering.
What in particular are you looking to get from the Club? And what does your organisation have to offer to other Club members?
We hope to enlarge our network and find potential partners sharing the same investment philosophy. Through the different workshops and events the Paperjam Club organises, we can offer an insight on value investing, which is an investment strategy that has proven its efficiency over decades and that is designed to be successful in the medium to long term even under pressure to achieve short-term results.
