Transport minister François Bausch in answer to a parliamentary question said that a new association of people living near the airport was to blame for the increase in complaints, as they report any flight they think breaks legal noise limits.

By March 2021, the group already submitted 218 complaints.

“At this stage, no sanction has been taken following a complaint,” Bausch said, adding that there was no legal basis for imposing a penalty.

The Luxembourg Air Navigation Administration monitors noise levels around the airport with four measuring stations, of which two are located near the runway, one in Hamm and one in Roodt/Syr.

The ANA publishes records of noise levels at all four stations on its website.
