The shop in rue Christophe Plantin, Gasperich, will be its fifteenth store in the country.

The opening shows a growing demand for discount brands on the Luxembourg market. Last year, rival Lidl opened two shops, in Strassen and Beggen, bringing its store count to nine.

Lidl management announced plans to bring that tally to 19 by 2023. Belgian discount chain Colyruyt, meanwhile, plans to open a fourth shop in Luxembourg, in Wemperhardt, in November.
