Amazon is set to arrive in Metz-Frescaty, head of Metz Métropole Jean-Luc Bohl confirmed at a press conference Monday morning.
According to our colleagues at Paperjam, the politician said jobs created at the Amazon site, to be located on 19ha on the former Metz-Frescaty Air Base 128 site which closed in 2012, would number in the “hundreds”. However, this is a far cry from the 3,000 some jobs that were announced last September in the local media.
Bohl detailed the population rise of 0.7% and job increase of 3.7% between 2014-2018, adding that “the massive investments in areas of economic activity, 27 zones and 27 million in 2018 have allowed the creation of 27,000 jobs,” according to our colleagues.
Amazon is also currently underway “finalising a number of ethical commitments to show their willingness to collaborate with the authorities, such as a contract with Emmaüs to avoid waste,” the article states.
