King’s Day is usually celebrated in Luxembourg with a formal reception at the residence of the Dutch ambassador, and often with informal orange-themed parties at bars like The Tube.

This year’s celebrations have again had to be muted because of the covid pandemic. But Dutch ambassador Cees Bansema, marking his first King’s Day in the grand duchy, recorded a short speech to mark the occasion.

The speech is followed by Dutch singer Edith van den Heuvel and guitar player Paulo Simoes performing the Dutch national anthem ‘Het Wilhelmus’ and the Garnisounsmusek Diekirch playing the Luxembourg national anthem ‘Ons Heemescht’.
