That’s according to figures published by Eurostat, the EU statistics agency, on 14 May.

Luxembourg residents typically moved out of their parents’ home at 20 years old.

Only Swedes were younger: 18.5 years old, on average. The figure was below 23 in Denmark, Finland and Estonia.

Those in Croatia and Slovakia stayed the longest: the average was around 31 years old in both countries. Young adults typically remained with their parents till at least 30 in Malta and Italy.

Eurostat said the EU average was 26 in 2017.
