Presenting its 2017 results on Tuesday, Agora said that building works spanning a total area of 61,350,000m2 had been sold. What is more, construction on 625,000m2 (46% of the site’s potential) was either in progress or had been completed.

At the end of 2017, Belval counted 1,764 homes, of which 833 were homes for students and senior citizens. It also had 210,000m2 of office space, equivalent to 5% of the national market. The area is home to 180 companies, institutions, shops and restaurants, as well as 2,400 people, Agora added.

Agora has been in charge of developing the new, 120-hectare Belval district, in Esch-sur-Alzette, since 2000. Today, the site hosts the University of Luxembourg as well as a handful of research institutions and companies.
