The Boeing 737-59D dates from 1991 and is currently operated by KaiserAir, a US company offering charter flights, VIP aircraft and plane maintenance services.

But records discovered by Forbes magazine show that the aircraft flew under the Luxair colours between March 2001 and April 2005 as well as for a host of other carriers, including now defunct Linjeflyg, SAS Scandinavian Airlines, British Midland Airways, bmi British Midland, CSA, Aeroflot-Nord and Nordavia Regional Airlines.

KaiserAir’s website offers the Boeing 737 with different seating options, such as 60 first class seats versus 120 coach-class seating. The plane has an eight-hour coast to coast range, large baggage capacity, personal video and comes with optional inflight fine dining.

Luxair’s fleet currently includes 19 aircraft, including four Boeing 737-700 and another four Boeing 737-800, which are used mostly for LuxairTours operations. The oldest of the Boeing aircraft was delivered in 2004 with the latest additions dating from 2019.

The former Luxair plane isn’t the only transport connection between the US and Luxembourg. The tyres for the US presidential limousine, also known as the beast, are made at the Goodyear plant in Colmar Berg.
