BMW is recalling 2,000 cars in Luxembourg due to the danger of fire in the engine. The recall follows an incident on 6 August where a 3-year-old BMW’s engine caught fire soon after being involved in an accident. BMW way says the danger of fire is very low and they taking steps to ensure the safety of the cars at risk.
The recall concerns cars produced between July 2012 and September 2016 and applies to the four-cylinder diesel engines of the 3, 4, 5 and 6 series, as well as the X3, X4, X5 and X6 models, Pieter De Wit, spokesman for BMW told l’Essentiel.
Customers will soon be contacted to make an appointment with their dealers to change the parts necessary. "The invitation will be sent to them once all the pieces are available. In the meantime, everyone can use their vehicle normally. Fire is extremely rare,” said De Wit.
