  • Raiffeisen Luxembourg management says the closure of three branches will not affect jobs or impact the service offered to customers. At the end of June, it announced the closure of its Wormeldange, Noerdange and Clervaux branches as part of a restructuring and reorganisation.
  • French bank BNP Paribas was sanctioned on Monday by the US central bank for “dubious practices” on the foreign exchange market. It was fined $250 million for lack of “supervision and internal controls”.
  • A limited number of students passing first year exams at Luxembourg’s university will be able to access medical training in Belgium, following a new agreement signed on Monday. The “university cooperation in medical education” comes almost four years after the Belgian government tightened entry conditions for foreign students to accept only 30% of non-residents.
  • Cleaning service Idéal Services Propreté has gone bankrupt. The trade union OGBL said that around 50 employees are concerned. The late payments of salaries had been communicated previously to the trade union. Some employees may be taken over by other firms, such as Augias.
  • The South hospital (Südspidol, located in Esch-sur-Alzette) has won the Design & Health International Academy Award in the category “Future Healthy Built Environment Project.” The selection criteria were based on the design, the creative approach and values, sustainability, planning and organisation, but also the operational efficiency, management, innovation and promoting health.
