Cactus said it would double its overtime premium and give a one-off bonus to employees to reward the “exceptional work” they are doing during the covid-19 crunch.

“To thank them for their exemplary commitment, as a first step we decided to pay an attendance bonus of €500, which will be paid to them in the coming weeks,” Laurent Schonckert, managing director of Cactus Group, said in a press release. In addition, hourly overtime pay “will be increased, until further notice, by 100% instead of the usual 50%”.

“We are aware of the exceptional effort of our teams,” Cyril Dreesen, managing director of Auchan Luxembourg told Paperjam. “A large majority” of its roughly 1,200 staff will receive an “exceptional bonus” of €1,000.

Dreesen said that “up to 8,000” customers are ordering online for drive-through pick-up each day, with average order “more than twice their usual amount.”
